Homemade Holiday Card
Check out this homemade holiday card! It’s easy and fun to make. A stampers dream card for this holiday season. So, grab your craft bag and join me!
If you are new to my blog, you might not know that I make my holiday cards every year. I have been making them since I was pregnant with my oldest. It’s just a thing that I enjoy doing and I love the crafting that it requires.
Since I do about 50 cards each year I try to do something simple. You can find some pretty intricate cards on splitcoaststampers.com. They are beautiful but are not practical for a large number of cards.
I am also very frugal when it comes to card making. If you don’t watch yourself you can spend upwards of 80 dollars on materials for one card (guilty). I can’t afford to do that and it’s not really any cheaper than buying a ready made pack at a big box chain.
To make my cards more frugal I don’t specifically buy all of my materials from one place. My stamp sets are from Stampin’ Up but my paper is from Michael’s as well as other materials from Walmart. Wherever has the best price is the place to shop.
Let’s get started!
Materials:
- White, Dark Green, Light Green cardstock.
- “A Cute Christmas” Stampin’ Up tree stamp
- Gold Stickles
- Light green ribbon, washi tape, or strip of paper.
- Green ink pad (I used Old Olive by SU)
- Your choice of color envelope
Tools
- Paper Trimmer (mine is Fiskars)
- Scissors
- Tape runner
Directions:
1. Cut your paper, the white is 2 X 3in the light green is 2.25 X 3.25in and the dark green is 2.5 X 3.5in.
3. Stamp your image on the small piece of white paper.
4. Use your Stickles to embellish the stamped image. I embellished the star on the first tree and the “lights” on the second tree. Make sure to let them dry before stacking them.
5. Use your tape runner to stack your paper. I did dark green, light green, and then white.
6. To have the front of my card be more than rectangles on top of rectangles I added an embellishment. You can use a light green strip of paper 1 X 5.5in. A strip of ribbon cut to the length on the card. Or, light green washi tape cut the length (I used this the most).
7. Add a message stamped or written on the inside. I usually add a photo of the girls inside the card as well as a signed sentiment. Make it your own! Add the message that is most relevant to you this holiday season.
8. Put your cards in your envelopes and send them on their way!
