My Story

My story is in bits and pieces in multiple posts. It’s really all my story and experiences. I thought it would be nice though, with this new site to have a place that gives a more congruent story. The beginning of my story I have already written in my recovery story. If you would like, you can read that here.

At the end of that story, I had met my husband. We met on a popular dating site called okcupid.com and found out that years previously we had actually gone to school together. We hit it off on our first date and we have been together ever since.

My husband was sleeping over at my apartment on weekends and I had recently completed intensive outpatient treatment. We got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2011 at the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. 3 months later I became pregnant with my first daughter Cadence. We got a new place together and got married when I was 8 months pregnant.

While I was pregnant I applied to get into nursing school and took the test. I was accepted into the full-time program while I was still pregnant. I started school when Cadence was 4 months old. You can read more about that here.

After completing nursing school I worked in long-term care while having a graduate license and shortly after started working in drug and alcohol which I still do to this day.

While working as a nurse we were able to save up enough money to buy our own home. I have worked where I am at now for a couple of years. I love what I do, and I really feel like I have a purpose.

Since we moved into a house we decided to have another baby. You can read about her birth story here. After having my second daughter while I was on maternity leave I decided to start this blog. Mainly to stay at home with her, but it has become more about allowing myself an outlet to be creative. I am able to share information with other mother’s and I am very proud of that. In sharing this I hope that I can touch someone along the way, someone who was like me who needed hope. Who needed someone to say “you got this!” and tell every mama that the drama you experience every day in its own way is beautiful.

I hope you can stick around, come along the journey, and join our drama!
