Awesome Possum Father’s Day Printable Card

It’s the beginning of June school is over and summertime is getting into full swing. That means that it’s almost Father’s Day! Last year I did a footprint project printable for father’s day. This year I am going to be doing a printable awesome possum card and a toolbox craft project.

Father’s Day for me.

The relationship I have with my father is tumultuous, to say the least as I was growing up. There were many years where I did not celebrate father’s day and it was a painful day. Thankfully recovery has given me the gift of being able to have a relationship with him. Although not perfect one where we are on speaking terms and able to go on vacations together, celebrate family holidays, etc. I now recognize that sometimes a father is more in the name than in the action.

However, I do not think I would be able to survive with my two children without the help of my husband. He is extremely helpful and is always there if I need him. He does laundry, cooks dinner, gets up in the middle of the night, helps clean, and is an all-around equal partner to me. Everything I do he does, and vice versa. He truly has earned the title of father not just in name but also in action.

Celebrating the dads!

So let’s celebrate those fathers that work hard and give all they can to their kids, by giving them this funny yet meaningful awesome possum card.

I choose to do something along the lines of my mama llama card by doing an awesome possum card. I say this at work all the time much to my coworker’s chagrin. It’s a play on words that makes people smile. For this card, I made it a little more literal just like in my mama llama card. I have a very dry sense of humor and I love puns. So coming up with a pithy card is right in my wheelhouse.

A little bit about possums!

Possums are nocturnal animals that are also referred to as opossums. They are most known for playing dead when they are scared, and for having very sharp teeth. They are also marsupials so the moms carry their young in a pouch. If you want to know more about this animal check out this article from mental floss.

The nitty gritty of the card.

Aside from the actual message, this is a foldable card. So unlike my other ones where you use a 5 X 7 piece of cardstock or photo paper this can be used with everyday printer paper. Or if you would like you can use cardstock it would just be harder to fold.

If you are new to this, you simply fold the paper in half horizontally with the design side facing out and then vertically. Simple enough. Let me know if you need any extra direction for that in the comments below.

So after you fold your card you are set to sign and give to all the great dads you know!

Let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or make this card by tagging @mamaofthedrama on your favorite social media. Or just let me know in the comments below. I always love hearing from you, so please don’t hesitate to speak up.

If you would like variations of this card, also let me know as I would love to accommodate you.
