Beach Scavenger Hunt Printable
A free beach scavenger hunt printable to enjoy on your sunny trip to the beach! It squelches boredom in an instant! Who wouldn’t love that?!
I have gone on two vacations this summer as we have done for the past two years. One where we camp and one where we go to the beach. We just got back from the beach and I was really wanting something to entertain my girls more.
They were constantly picking on each other. Anytime I start to get annoyed with my children’s behavior I start to look for clues of what might be bothering them. As behavior is more of an arrow to unsolved problems and the need to learn how to deal with them than it is about dolling out consequences. I realized that they were just downright bored.
So I put my thinking cap on and realized I could make this a little more entertaining. So I dusted off my computer and started to make a scavenger hunt for the beach. Creative, Pinterest mom win! I have a similar scavenger hunt for leaf-peeping here (also, free).
I love the idea of using scavenger hunts as a motivator to get kids up, out of the house, and moving. Sometimes it is hard with all the technology that is surrounding them today. Which I talk about limiting in how to entertain a toddler without a screen. As well as, in this case, a boredom solution.
Beach Scavenger Hunt 2-5
I am sure you guys are chomping at the bit to actually get to the printable, so grab your shovel and bucket! Here it is! First, we have a toddler printable that has things that are not hard to find. They are just pictures and can be used easily by any child 2-5 with some help from an adult of course.
I tried to make the items things that you would bring to the beach. If they want or need to grab and carry them they can. I assumed that they would not be happy just finding things. Toddlers don’t have a feeling of accomplishment with just pointing things out and crossing them off a list. Having said that the only thing they can’t pick up is
Scavenger Hunt 6-10
The next one is a version for older kids that are of school age and can read. They are a little bit harder to find and you can’t pick them all up and put them in your bucket.
There is soo many uses for these printables, not just for on the beach. You can use them when you are eating by the ocean side. Or, you can use it any other time the items would be present and your littles need to be entertained. Such as shopping at a beach store, or when you are trying to walk on a boardwalk. The possibilities are endless if you have a creative mind.
Try to use cardstock if you would like a good sturdy printable, but you can also use regular printer paper if you want to fold it up and throw it in your diaper or beach bag.
