Spring Scavenger Hunt Printable

This is a spring scavenger hunt printable, so sing the rejoices of spring by getting out into nature. Spending time with your family and properly social distancing of course.

Happy mother’s day if you are reading this on the day it’s coming out. We have a tough job, and at least one day out of the year everyone acknowledges it. For quite a few people it’s going to be a different experience for mother’s day as most restaurants are closed and a lot of us are still practicing social distancing. Thankfully we are still able to actually go outside and spend time with our household by using this spring scavenger hunt printable.

Getting outside, taking in the fresh air, and getting all that energy out is going to be helpful. On any day but this mother’s day hopefully nap time will come early if you use this. Or, if you really want to take a break just send your partner and the children out. They can go on the scavenger hunt and you can binge-watch Netflix. Or, maybe, just maybe, you could even take a nap. Yes, girl!

What are the benefits of a scavenger hunt?

And it’s not only something that will get them to take a nap early or get out of your hair. There is an actual brain benefit from doing scavenger hunts. It allows them to problem solve and connect what they are seeing and doing in their environment be connected. Their ability to retain the things they are finding is also going to benefit from this mind and body connection.

If you want to take advantage of this, talk a little bit about plants and nature. See what your child retains about the information that is connected to the scavenger hunt. You then can use this in your upcoming homeschooling lessons. Even if you aren’t doing natural science you can use this method with so many different tangible concepts from math, to letter recognition.

So let’s get to it.

I have designed this to be about index card sized, so it’s easy to carry and take with you. However, I have been racking my mind about taking a pencil, crayon, or marker on the trek and that just seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Having a lost writing implement along a trail in the woods doesn’t like sound fun to me. So I am going to opt for stickers that you can staple or tape to the first sheet. Unless you can figure out a way to attach the writing implement to your child or the paper I am thinking this is the best bet.

You can go out and buy some stickers from your local dollar store. Or just find some random ones laying around your house. Or if you want to take a chance with a crayon you can. Whatever works, this isn’t a recipe it doesn’t need to follow as is. It’s a fun activity meant to bring the family together. To get outside, get some sun, and most of all get moving.

As I talked about in my leaf-peeping scavenger hunt I live in central Pennsylvania. Because of this, the things that I am going to look for might not be in the climate you live in. I am going to try to make it as inclusive as possible, but I am only human.
