Daddy Shark DIY Costume
Daddy shark doo doo doo! If your ears aren’t bleeding from the song yet. Check this out! A super simple DIY Halloween Daddy Shark Costume. No-sew with felt and a zip-up hoodie.
Fall is upon us, which means Halloween! Yaaaaay! I love Halloween. Free candy?! What isn’t to love. Every year we try to go as a theme. We’ve gone as Frozen, superheroes, and Toy Story. One year we went rogue and just let the little one dress up, I was pregnant and fed up LOL. I really love dressing up myself though.
This year my family is going as an underwater theme. Cadence is going to be Ariel the mermaid, Aria is a clownfish, hubby will be daddy shark, and I will be a crab. The only bought costume is the clownfish so I will be posting the other costumes shortly.
This whole costume is no-sew! As I have talked about before, I cannot sew and I will probably never be able to sew. My poor mother in law tried to teach me hilarity ensued and she ended up just doing it herself. So, crafty people who can’t sew rejoice!
I designedΒ this to be done on a Cricutβ’οΈ cutting machine.Β Or you can use the printable PDF patterns and hand cut the pieces of felt. Let’s just get to the good stuff and tell you how I made this costume.
Materials you will need:
-
-
-
- 3 sheets of gray felt
- 1 sheet of white felt
- 1 sheet of black felt
- a yd of red fabric
- Gray zip-up sweatshirt
-
-
Tools you will need:
-
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue sticks
- Fabric glue
- Scissors
- Sewing pins
- Printer or Cricutβ’οΈ
-
Printer Directions
-
- Print out the PDF pattern HERE. It is in a zip file because it’s easier to download.
- Cut out the pattern and lay it on top of your felt. Pin it in place.
- Using the printable as your guide cut out your felt.
- Take your red fabric and fold it in half. Lay it under the hood of your sweatshirt. Cut around the hood. You should end up with 2 pieces of red fabric that are the shape of your hood.
- Β Using your fabric glue, glue the edges inside of the hood of the sweatshirt and adhere the red fabric.
- Β Now pin your eyes, teeth, and fin where you like them.
- Β Using a hot glue gun, glue along the edges of the felt and adhere them to the sweatshirt. Pulling the pins out as you glue.
-
Cricutβ’οΈ Directions
-
- Find my design hereΒ on Cricutβ’οΈ Design Space.
- Using a deep cut housing blade and a strong grip mat cut the felt, check out my tutorial here.Β

That’s it! You are done with your daddy shark costume. Pair it with some jeans you already own and your hubby is set for Halloween. He also can use it as a regular sweatshirt.

I love this!! I canβt sew either, we did some sewing in school and I was terrible at it! So itβs great to see you can still make things without knowing that skill

I love this! Halloween is my favorite, and we still haven’t settled on costumes. Adding this to the list of possibilities. My toddler is obsessed with Finding Nemo so this might work.
