Kid-Friendly Breakfast in Bed
A kid-friendly breakfast in bed is perfect for mother’s day. Get the kids involved in making your day special. Starting off with a delicious breakfast that your little ones can enjoy making themselves! Of course, depending on the age there will need to be adult help or at least supervision. If you are interested in my other mother’s day post which features a baby footprint project you can check that out here!
I loved doing this as a child for my mother on days even when it wasn’t a holiday but might be when she wasn’t feeling well. Or just to let her know that she was special to me. But on this special holiday of honoring your mother why not allow her some extra sleep with some food on the side. I can’t think of anything better to do for a person in general.
So on the menu, is going to be some easy things that your child can just put together on a tray and serve to you. All of it can be done without a stove but will require a microwave, and toaster. If your child is too small to operate these they will need to have extra help for this meal.
Directions for the kids.
So first things first, grab some pre-sliced bread and pop those puppies in the toaster.
While that is going, get 2 eggs from the fridge. Crack them into a mug with a little bit of milk, salt, and pepper. Microwave them in 30-45 second intervals stirring the eggs until they are no longer runny.
The toast should be done by now, spread some butter, jelly, peanut butter, or hazelnut spread onto the toast (whichever mom prefers).
Get some yogurt from the fridge and a little bowl of granola to have on your tray.
Have an adult brew some coffee or tea if your mom enjoys drinking that in the morning. After it is done prepare it to their liking and add it to your tray.
Assemble your tray and deliver it to your mother. If you do not have a tray you can just deliver it one by one.
If you do not have the culinary skills or ingredients for the foods above don’t worry. Just pour your mom’s favorite bowl of cereal and give her a cup of coffee or tea. Your mother will appreciate your effort no matter what.
Back to the Mama.
I hope that you will be able to share this with your little ones and partner so that you can make your day a little more special. On all the other days of the year, we give our all to our family and give without getting much in return. On a day that we get to put ourselves first without guilt, we can allow ourselves to be a little pampered.
Allowing your child to do things for you also gives them a sense of altruism and teaches them selflessness. With your praise, they will want to help more people selflessly and want to give to more people in their life that are meaningful to them. So, having a child do something nice for someone they love is good all around.
