Applesauce Printable Tag Daycare Valentine

If you can’t find a daycare Valentine, I am here to save you! This applesauce tag is easy, healthy, and will be a hit with all the kids at daycare!

My youngest is still in daycare and trying to think of a creative toddler valentine that won’t break the bank and will fit all of the little one’s allergy and dietary needs can be exhausting. This year I am doing an allergy-friendly applesauce pouch valentine. Last year I did a printable tag for teething fish biscuits check that out here.

It’s allergy friendly and you can get an economy sized box of applesauce pouches at Sam’s Club, Walmart, or Aldi. Apples are not a top 8 allergen so they are school and daycare safe. They are good for babies starting on solids as well as for older kids who like a snack on the go.

Why we care about allergens…

My youngest has issues with milk and soy allergens so we are always on the hunt for allergy friendly treats. Especially on holidays that revolve around eating. We had the same problem with Halloween candy. Having to throw away most of the candy that she got because they were full of milk chocolates and soy preservatives.

Having this experience has made me a much more conscious mother about allergens. Although I was aware of allergies before I was not nearly as careful and inclusive as I am now. However, I was still a bit of a stickler about my daughter eating processed sugar. Now I am more relaxed about that. I am using unsweetened applesauce so, if the parents are sugar concious there child can enjoy this also.

Since I am using applesauce pouches I am going to be doing a tag printable or Cricut design space pattern. That you tie on with red bakers twine or jute. The design is 2.5 inches round which covers half the applesauce pouch but you can position it to cover the back. This way the child can see what the front of the pouch says (or what the picture shows).

For the printable version you are going to need some skill to be able to cut this out, so if you are on the fence about buying yourself a Cricut this might be the project you will need it for. It is not impossible, however. Where there’s a will there’s a way.

Directions

  • Print out the pattern from above.
  • Cut on the black lines.
  • You can try to cut out the whole with the scissors or you can use a thin hole punch.
  • Using the baker’s twine or jute tie the tag to the neck of the applesauce.

That’s it your done. Load up your applesauce and take them to daycare. You can choose a combination of applesauce with other mix-ins like strawberry applesauce or mixed fruit applesauce. I don’t think it will be too big of a deal as long as you have an apple in there somewhere. Have a great Valentine’s day!
