Leaf Peeping Scavenger Hunt
Leaf Peeping was one of my activities to do with your little this fall. I love looking at the leaves change color and a walk in the crisp cool air is so nice. Everyone always feels better after a nice walk. Often times my daughter’s need to get their energy out. What a great way than to have them take a walk in the woods.
To give you some ideas of what to look for. I am going to GIVE you a FREE printable scavenger hunt. Featuring pictures and words a child who is pre-reading can still enjoy the activity. My oldest daughter who cannot read yet just loves the pictures!
Depending on the weather, you might have to bundle up to do this activity. Either way, it will be good to get out of the house and spend some time together. Even if you have to put everyone’s coats and hats on.
If you need help finding someplace to walk I found a great site called https://www.alltrails.com/ that can show you trails. You can also just use your search engine to find some near you if you are having trouble. I like to go to the local park and walk there trail. You can take whatever trail you find best for your family. All the is required is trees and nature.
Suggestions to do on your walk.
- Have your little’s be silent for a while (if you can) to experience their senses. What do you hear? What do you smell? Finally, what do you see?
- Give your little their scavenger hunt paper and start your walk!
- You can find the things on the hunt by collecting them, or by just seeing/hearing them.
If it is too cold, or you don’t want to walk. This scavenger hunt can be done by taking a drive through the woods as well. Whatever you want to do, it’s up to you! Just have fun with your family and bond over the beauty of what the fall season has to offer.
You can also talk about why leaves change color in the winter with your little’s. As well as talking about why leaves fall off of trees. You can make it as complicated or as simple as you want according to your child. Here’s some info to help educate Why Leaves Change Color and Why Do Leaves Fall in Autumn. Make it fun and educational.
Let me know if you find other things on your leaf peeping scavenger hunt, in the comments below!
I am trying to get to 500 subscribers it’s free for you! If you are interested in helping me out as well as getting mama of the drama delivered to your email Subscribe here.
